Read about our design, front-end and backend updates, and how to get involved
Back in December 2025, we had the pleasure of announcing that thanks to generous support from Google.org, Humane Intelligence will be releasing a new and improved version of our AI red teaming app under an open source software (OSS) license. We’ve been hard at work these past few months and are excited to give the following updates about the project!
We wrapped up several UX research and design exercises that included our internal team, plus past clients and individual users of our current AI red teaming app. Those exercises included:
We’ve passed all of these exercises and more than a few other thoughts to our go-to designers at Andless, who have laid out a new sitemap and are currently building out wireframes and prototypes. Once those are finalized, Andless will work with our backend engineers (see below) to build and test the new front-end for the OSS release.
Once again, we want to give a huge thank you to the many organizations that submitted to our expression of interest (EOI) for the backend engineering work! The selection process was competitive and choosing just one organization was a difficult decision. We opened in the EOI in December 2025, which ran until early February 2026. We invited the top submissions to send us a full proposal. Based on set criteria, we scored the proposals and invited the top third for a final interview.
We are happy to announce that we will be working with SolDevelo, a technology solutions provider based in Poland. SolDevelo has worked with several agencies of the UN, other multinational organizations, and several industry firms. We kicked off the backend engineering work with them in mid-April, which will run for about four months. We’ll then work with SolDevelo on all aspects of the OSS release.
In the coming months, we’ll have several ways our community can get involved in this important project:
We will be reaching out to existing organizations in our networks and issuing at least one open call to identify trusted implementers of the OSS AI red teaming app. These trusted vendor organizations will work with third party organizations that wish to fork and locally deploy our OSS AI red teaming app, but don’t have the in-house capacity. We’ll run training sessions with these trusted implementers so they can become familiar with the OSS code base and documentation. We’ll then list the trusted implementers on our website as our go-to referrals. Our goal is to have at least one trusted implementer per major geographic region and ideally trusted implementers who are native speakers of common business languages, including but not limited to French, Spanish, Arabic, Swahili, Yoruba, Igbo, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Mandarin, Korean, and more.
Similar to exercises we ran in early 2025, we’ll be periodically calling on our networks to help test our new software and report bugs. In some cases, we may ask for feature improvements and recommendations. Look for updates on our volunteer page later in 2026.
Look for information on our events page! We’ll be announcing events at major conferences and convenings, where we’ll talk about our OSS release in more depth and announce when the OSS app will be generally available. In case you missed it, we had a great event about OSS and AI evaluations at the India AI Impact Summit in February 2026. You can watch the livestream recording here.*
