In fewer than three years, Humane Intelligence has emerged as a global thought leader in the field of AI evaluations and in the responsible AI community. In August 2025, Mala Kumar stepped in as Interim Executive Director, taking over from Co-Founder, Dr. Rumman Chowdhury. Our strategy shift brings responsible AI and AI for social good together, and we here to meet the moment as windfall of activity to use AI to better human development takes shape. Humane Intelligence is one of the few organizations globally that offer human-centered, rigorous evaluations to responsibly unlock the power of AI for social good at scale. Below, we’ve shared a few of our 2025 highlights.
Note this page is a work in progress. More content will be added in January and February 2026.
In 2025, Humane Intelligence advanced our thought leadership in AI evaluations, governance and social impact. We published several thought leadership pieces and reports in 2025, including the Red Teaming AI for Social Good Playbook. Our thought leadership was shared at the Paris AI Action Summit, UNGA 80, and other global forums, to help shape conversations about how AI systems can be evaluated and governed in ways that are transparent, inclusive, and grounded in real-world impact. See our thought leadership on our Insights page.
We launched several new initiatives in 2025, including our work to release our AI red teaming app under an open source software license (OSS), our new bias bounties at scale initiative, and our AI in Public Health working group. Humane Intelligence also concluded our original Google.org funded bias bounty program with the Accessibility in Conference Facilities challenge set. In total, we engaged several hundred participants from around the world, and are on track to work with even more people in 2026. Learn more about our OSS work at the link below.
Humane Intelligence convened global stakeholders through several well attended events, both in-person and remotely. In September, we hosted the Honest Discussions at the Intersection of AI and SDGs side-event at UNGA 80. In February, we hosted the AI Society House at the AI Action Summit in Paris, and in July, we held an AI red teaming workshop at TrustCon. Our remote events included several open community calls, as well as the kick off of our AI in Public Health working group, which drew nearly 50 participants. See these and more on our events page.
Partnerships were central to Humane Intelligence’s work in 2025. We partnered with over 200 international civil society, academic, private sector, government, and other organizations on our programs, events and services. Some of our closest partnerships are with our service providers, such as the annotation company, Reliabl. In 2026, we’ll deepen partnerships through our OSS, AI in public health and policy initiatives.
Humane Intelligence would not be able to do its work without the generous funding of organizations such as the Heising-Simons Foundation, Google.org, and more. Our two major funding announcements in 2025 were for our OSS AI red teaming application and the launch of our bias bounties at scale on Zindi. The funding will significantly decrease the cost of AI red teaming engagements, ensure bias bounty challenges are more discoverable and easier to complete, and support our fast growing volunteer initiatives. Read more about our bias bounty at scale announcement below.
Several new team members joined Humane Intelligence in 2025, including Mala Kumar, our Interim Executive Director; Dr. Julie Hollek, our Head of Engineering; and Bianca Gay, our Grants & Finance Director. Humane Intelligence’s work would not be possible without our incredible interdisciplinary team!
A quote from one of our clients in 2025:
“The Humane Intelligence workshop I attended was the best training I have had in my five years at this company!”
